Courageous community
Right now, I’m sitting in a café in midtown while my kid is in an after-school activity.
It’s packed in here and yet, it’s so quiet—too quiet.
There’s music playing, but there are only two tables where live conversations are happening.
The rest of us are on our devices.
I’m not about to raise my fist against modernity—obviously, technology is graciously allowing me to communicate with you right now.
But I can’t help wonder, what’s missing? What are we really doing? How have we gotten here? And where are we heading to?
How can we embrace the present gifts of expansive connection while also cultivating real, authentic community?
I’m not sure what the answer is—maybe there are many solutions. But one remedy that feels right is to radically embrace the star within—your unique inner star and the uncommon stars residing within each one of us.
Humanity is kind of like an infinite, massive, and multicolored puzzle, each with individuated shapes and patterns and frequencies.
But many of us have developed edges that are squishy and undefined because we’ve been taught to hide…
Not gonna lie—I used to cringe at the word “community.”
What would happen if you really saw me?
The irony is that, in trying to “fit in,” you end up finding it more difficult to connect with others because you’re not really standing in your authenticity.
But what if you realized that you’re not meant to be like everybody?
You’re meant to be you.
Be you.
Be you.
Be you.
Be you and courageous community will rise up around you. Authentically, easily, and lovingly.
It’s time to reclaim the shape of you.
