Nurturing peace

How is it possible to nurture peace and harmony when the world feels so full of tumultuousness and discord?

I don’t have all the answers… but I’ve received one.

You need to ground to get up.

Grounding helps you to gain perspective.

Soaring through the sky, a bird’s eye can see a vast expanse of terrain and possibilities.

But with bare feet connected to the ground, you energetically receive the wisdom of 4.5 billion years of memory retained in the soil, ash, dust, detritus, microorganisms, mycelial networks, roots, and more.

I think we all want to see some changes made in our world and perhaps within ourselves…

And you can more readily make those changes toward greater harmony when you feel a grounding connection to the Earth.

There are so many ways to get grounded. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Walk in bare feet on grass, dirt, stones, or sand

  • Place hands on the lower belly and/or heart and breathe

  • Hum

  • Sing

  • Dance

  • Sweat

  • Hug someone you love

  • Prepare a meal using at least one ingredient that you have to wash soil off of

  • Make a cup of tea

And here’s is a recipe for my favorite tea to ground and detoxify.

GINGER TONIC TEA

  • a few slices of ginger root

  • 1/4 t cinnamon

  • 1/4 t turmeric

  • 1/2 t honey (local and raw, if possible)

  • juice from 1/2 a lemon

  • pinch of black pepper

Add a cup of just-boiled water, cover and let steep for 10-15 minutes, give thanks to the plants and to all the hands that delivered this medicine to you (including your own), and enjoy!

I hope you give it a try and let me know what you think.
