Dispatch From Paris
For the past week, I’ve been on holiday in Paris and steeped in three generations of my family—ranging from age 6 to 83.
It’s been beautiful and bananas and my biggest takeaway is:
There is nothing like being out of your comfort zone to show you who you really are.
After reading the akashic records for 6 years, the question that most often comes up is, “What is my purpose?” The context is usually around livelihood, i.e., making a living wage.
But, looking beneath the surface, the heart of the question is actually, “Who am I?”
This seemingly simple question requires some deeper exploration.
Who are you?
If I ask, “Who are you?”, most would reply with some kind of job title like an “architect” or “doctor” or “healer.”
But is who you are the same as what you do for a living?
We’ve become so tied to our “doing” that we cannot separate out our “being.”
Who are you?
Who are you when you are just being?
We talk so much about “finding” ourselves…
What if I told you that you don’t need to find yourself?
You’re already here. [points to your heart space]
Maybe you just need to peel back the layers that have built up around the essence of you.
A little bit of discomfort—in travel or simply in moments of silence—can help you dissolve the constructs you’ve built up around yourself.
When you take yourself to the edge of the familiar, you begin to remember the core of who you are.
You don’t need to find yourself.
Beloved, you are right here.
