Your Sacred Emergence

Yesterday, I did volunteer reiki in the dementia ward of a local hospital. It’s so fulfilling to share this gentle practice with those precious souls who are deeply ready to reconnect with a profound sense of inner calm.

Afterwards, I had an unexpected and seemingly nihilistic thought that actually stirred up a sense of freedom within me:

No one is going to remember me anyway.

So, I might as well follow my heart.

I might as well be my authentic self.

And I might was well honor all aspects of me.

No one is going to remember me anyway.

So, why hold back from sharing all of my gifts?

I might as well sing.

And I might was well celebrate all who I am becoming.

We are all emerging. No matter your age or how long you’ve identified as x, y, or z. When you embrace your unique emergence, you create space to honor individuality. And individuality is anathema to tyranny.

As we’ve seen, the tyrannical love to lump things together and then stick a label on it to exert control over others and stoke the flames of fear.

But you and I transcend labels.

So, when you embrace your emergence, you promote being unique, which ultimately helps to destabilize authoritarianism and all of its fearmongering. You create space for compassion and love.

It’s so simple and yet so profound.

So, how can you begin to nurture your sacred emergence?

It doesn’t have to be a massive action.

It can be as simple as wearing or using an unexpected color.

Or reading an unexpected book.

Or expressing an unexpected thought.

The world needs all of us in our unique authenticity right now.

Because the world needs healing.

And healing begins with you.
